Lost Past; A Star Trek Story

Paramount Global owns the Star Trek franchise. This is a piece of fan fiction based on Star Trek the Next Generation characters.

Jo?

“So you are Mr. Data?” A feminine voice asked.

He turned around expecting someone to be there. But there was nothing.

“Yes.” He continued to look around him.

“You will not find what you are looking for. You may call me Jo. Short for Jornumgand of course.”

“But the voice I heard before was male.”

“I can be male if you want me to be. I thought you would enjoy this more.”

“I was expecting you to be taller.”

    “What?”

“All I have of you is a description. Soon everything will come back to you. You will remember what all of my knobs and levers are for.”

“I will?” He was very confused.

“It is like riding a bicycle, once you learn, you never forget.” He heard a giggle. “You credit Dr. Soong as being your father don’t you?”

    “You use contractions.”

    “Would you prefer I didn’t?”

“No,” he sighed. “Yes, I credit Dr. Soong as my father.”

    “Why?”

    “He created me.”

“And Mrs. Soong as your mother?”

    “Yes.”

“Very well, then I shall call you my father.”

Data looked around the rooms they had just been through. “Why?” He questioned slowly as he walked.

    “You don’t remember anything?”

“I am having difficulty with remembering lots of things.”

“That’s alright.” He stopped in the ballroom. “You are my father because you created me.”

    “I did?”

    “Yes. Well, you helped.”

“Do you want me to help you figure this out or do you want to figure it out on your own?”

“I need to do this on my own.”

“Very well.” There was a moment of silence. “Father,” followed by a childish giggle. “Too cool.”
