Lost Past; A Star Trek Story

Paramount Global owns the Star Trek franchise. This is a piece of fan fiction based on Star Trek the Next Generation.

Something is off

The group, except Data, walked outside. They were offered something to eat and drink.

“Thank you.” Picard accepted.

Freya and Thor went back to check on Sher. When they got to her bedroom, they found Q kneeling by her bed.

“What are you doing here?” Thor asked.

“I am here because I care for your daughter. She is my friend.”

“Friend indeed.” He scoffed. “Q’s can’t be friends with anyone. How much do you know?”

“I know everything.”

“How could you know everything and not do anything? You call yourself a friend indeed?”

“Like you, I learned everything after the fact.”

“I don’t understand why the Oracle didn’t work.” Freya frowned.

Data walked outside. He was struggling to breathe. He fell to his knees in the courtyard. Picard walked over to him. He was gasping for air. “Data, what’s wrong?” Picard tried to console him.

He gagged, “cannot let her die. I do not know how to save her. This is all my fault.”

“Data, how can you say that? Are you so convinced this wouldn’t have happened anyway?”

“What are you trying to say?”

“Maybe this happening now was a good thing. You can help figure out what is wrong with her. Data, you have solved worse problems than this.

“None have been so personal.”

“I can relate to that. You are going to have to look beyond the personal.”

“This is just too farfetched, she can communicate with me but not with her family.”

“I still submit it is because you were closer to her in proximity.” Picard reported.

“This may not have anything to do with us,” Thor added from behind them. “It has to be something residual from that planet.”

“Something residual from the planet.” Data resounded. He looked over Picard’s head to see that the Enterprise was breaking the planets atmosphere.

“Something residual from the planet.” Picard restated as he turned around; they watched the process of the Enterprise being landed. It was a sight to marvel. The Jormungand had legs unfold from under its wings. Once on the ground, it looked like a dragon posed to fly. “Our comrades are here. Shall we go meet them?” The entire party including Q went to the Enterprise. A large staircase had been place by Cargo Bay 4 so they could walk down. The first to reach the ground was Wil, followed by Counselor Troi, Lieutenant Commander La Forge, and Dr. Crusher.” Picard introduced the rest of his crew to Freya and Thor.

“If you wish, start drawing up a shore leave schedule. Our home is your home

for as long as you’re here.” Thor shook Commander Riker’s hand.

Data looked at Dr. Crusher. “Something residual from the planet, that’s it. Q come with me.” He and Q disappeared. They went to sickbay and got a syringe, then returned to the bedroom where Sher was. “Hold her hand, this is going to hurt.” Q did as he was instructed. “Sher,” Data caressed her forehead. “She’s running a fever. I am afraid this is going to hurt a little my Princess.” He kissed her forehead. Thor, Dr. Crusher, and Picard appeared in the door. “I am going to take some of your blood. There is something wrong with you and I am going to figure out how to fix you.” He injected the needle in her arm.

“Awe,” she moaned, moving painfully in the bed. “Awe.”

“I am sorry.” He kissed her hand. “I am so sorry. Q is going to stay with you.” She continued squirming in the bed. “I will be back.”

Freya walked in the room carrying a matching basin and pitcher. They were made from pink-banded Rhodochrosite stalactite cut as cross-sections to show off the bands. “That is beautiful.” Q admired.

“Thank you,” Freya sat it on the nightstand beside Sher, wiping her forehead with the cool water from the pitcher.

“Come Doctor, we have much work ahead.” Data and Dr. Crusher disappeared.
