My last weight loss journey, weight loss as a side effect

If you have been following along with me, you know I’ve been all over the map and back when it comes to weight loss. Before I started this blog, I’ve tried most of the diets from The Cabbage Soup Diet to The Atkins Diet. Losing more weight than some people weigh, only to gain it right back. And more. Known as yo-yo dieting. Which is worse on your body than being fat. Or so, I’ve read.

Recently at work, I was asked if I’ve lost some weight? 🎉 Talk about making me feel good. While weight loss is fantastic; and I’ll take it, I’m learning how to eat. My diet was high in carbohydrates. I used to tell my dad, “man can’t live off honeybuns alone.” In the later stage of his life, all he wanted was sweets. As we age, our sweet taste buds are all that’s left. So, I’ve read. A similar statement is true of my body, I can’t live off carbohydrates alone. I love them. But they need to be the secondary source of food for me.

I mentioned in an earlier post that I’ve been binge watching Autumn Bates on YouTube and I’ve been adding more protein to my diet. Learning things such as carbohydrates sensitivity and the glycemic load of foods. Diabetes runs in my family. Foods high on that scale are bad for me. Learning that I need to avoid all the good/bad things; you know, the things that make our state buds dance. Doritos being on top of my list. Hmmm, so good. Have I completely given these things up? No, but I don’t eat near what I used to.

Finding the time to exercise is challenging.

I will share recipes I’ve been making in up coming posts. Starting with a random recipe I found on-line for pumpkin cheesecake. I have really been on a pumpkin kick lately.

The recipe I got on-line was for one serving. Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake. It’s not too different from Autumn’s pancakes. Will share later.

1 egg

1 cup cottage cheese

1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

3 tablespoons pumpkin puree

(She had 2 tablespoons of allulose. Didn’t use.)

I added a splash of vanilla

And 1 scoop vanilla protein powder

Chocolate chips added to the top once in the dish.

Dump every thing in a blender, blend until smooth, bake at 350 for 15 minutes. It took mine 25 minutes.

Topped with Oikos® Triple Zero Vanilla
Nonfat Greek Yogurt, 15 grams of protein and a dusting of cocoa power.

  1. I am trying just to eat less and better- but I am not losing- not gaining- but not losing either. I rarely allow myself sugar- because then I get to craving it- but when I do eat sugar- I eat the whole damn thing! So I am right here with you, Jolene! You are an encouragement!

    1. Thank you 💕 YES! All the sugar. But I have notice since I don’t eat as many carbs and trying to stay away from lots of processed foods, my sugar cravings have dropped a lot. Sometimes a girl just NEEDS sugar. 😉 My scales aren’t moving much. However, my clothes are starting to fit differently. 🎉 This is difficult sometimes. But I think if we change our mind set from loosing weight to eating to be healthy, it might work to our advantage. Stay strong. 💪🏻 You got this.

  2. Thank you for your post. Getting healthy is also a goal I have. It can be hard to keep things going. Life can through you curveballs and before you know it, that healthy routine is not so routine anymore. Some good choices have helped me. Doing the stairs instead of the elevator and even replacing junk food with healthy snacks.
