Legacy destroyed?
“Well dad, why is your cage made out of gold?” Meg asked.
Picard walked from behind the throne pedestal. “Jean-Luc,” Vera called. “Get us out of here.”
“I am afraid I can’t do that. I would be endangering your lives more than what they already are.” Picard answered with a heavy heart.
“What was the message from Star Fleet about?” Westerfield snapped.
“Your home town is being destroyed.” Picard sighed.
“Destroyed how?” He was on his knees now.
“Everything and everyone that would not flee has been burnt. They are claiming it was a freak lightning strike.
“The weather grids missed it? How?”
“It went through the weather grids.”
“Your home has been destroyed as well. Everything that had your name
attached to it has been wiped clean.”
“No!” He screamed, shaking his cage.
“It doesn’t matter that your family is safely with you does it?” Data asked spoke from the shadows.
Westerfield screamed. “You have no right. You android looking piece of non-human machinery!”
“Your words can not hurt me. You have done more damage with your actions.” Data responded.
“Not enough!” Not enough!” He sobbed. “Not enough.”
Data stared at Eric for a long time. “What is so trashy about you? You look clean and well kept to me?”
“You son of a bitch.” Westerfield growled.
“My husband is not trashy.” His daughter screamed.
“Vera, right?” Data asked the wife.
“Yes.”
“I am an android. I am a piece of machinery. And I will tell you this. Your husband has what he values most in life around him.”
“Bastard!” Westerfield screamed.
“Charles, someone told me that I really didn’t know you. That you are the right hand of Satan. I defended you then.” Picard glanced at Westerfields family. “I can’t defend you anymore.”
