The End
Thor and Freya had a large feast for everyone aboard the Enterprise. After the feast, Picard had all the senior staff around the stairs leading up to the Enterprise. “I have asked Westerfield’s family to join us since we are going to Earth. They have accepted. Make sure they are added to the ships manifest.”
“Yes sir.” Geordi answered.
“Is everyone aboard?”
“Yes sir.” Worf answered. “All hands accounted for, sir.”
Guinan was standing at the bottom of the steps. “I have been invited to stay.”
She glanced at Data. “I have accepted that invitation.”
“We will miss you.” Picard hugged her.
“I appreciate everything you have done Captain.”
“It was the least I could do.”
“Thank you.” Everyone said their goodbyes to her.
“Data,” Picard asked. “What say you?”
“I am going with you, sir.”
“What!” Deanna and Beverly asked at the same time.
“I cannot explain my decision.”
“I can’t rationalize your decision.” Deanna shrieked.
“I can,” Sher was standing behind Picard. “30 years ago, I left you for the Federation. 30 years later, you are leaving me for the Federation. Poetic justice, I believe.” She paused for a moment, “I told you making this decision would be easy.”
“A little more input from you would have been appreciated.” She and Guinan began to walk away. “That is it.” Data asked.
“What are you expecting?”
“I am unsure. Not this.”
“You didn’t expect an end?”
“If I know us, this is not an end. We will meet again. When we do, all of my memories will be intact.”
She walked over to him and kissed him. It was most passionate kiss he had ever received. “The next time we meet,” she paused. “A child will know more than you.” She and Guinan walked toward the palace. With a heavy heart, he boarded the Enterprise. Was this really the right decision?
Sher and Guinan watched as the Enterprise lifted off back into the vastness of space.
