Sarah rolled over, not knowing how long she had been asleep. Orion was still lying with her. That warm, safe, comfortable feeling hadn’t gone away. She slept on.
Like a cat, she stretched awake. “How long have I been asleep?”
“Do you really want me to tell you?” He smiled.
She sat up leaning against the side of the car. He lay there motionless.
“I am not one of those women. When I ask a question, I really want to know the answer.”
He wrapped his arms around her legs, snuggling up to her. “Well we’ll be at our final destination in three hours.”
“Oh wow, we missed a train stop?”
“We missed nothing. It missed us.”
She smiled in spite of herself.
“How do you feel after so much sleep?” He asked.
“Well rested. I am shocked and amazed.”
“Come back down here.”
“Why?”
“Please.” He implored.
She studied the top of his head for a moment before sliding back down beside of him.
“What do you want?” She giggled.
He laid his head on her chest, “we have two more hours.”
“You know, you really don’t have a lot of room to talk about the complexity of my personality.” She ran her fingers through his hair.
“If it wasn’t for Paul, I wouldn’t go back there.”
“Is it really that bad?”
“Yes and no.” He held her closer.
She decided that was enough questioning.
Before she left for this trip, she had been reading a study about cuddle therapy? As a doctor, she knew there were a lot of positive health benefits from being held (in a none threatening, none sexual way) by another person. The stranger danger side of her found the idea cringe. Was this cuddle therapy? She made up her mind to reread the study. As they lay there, she drifted back to sleep.
