B4

Paramount Global owns the Star Trek franchise. This is a piece of fan fiction based on Star Trek the Next Generation.

Ten years later

Sher stood alone looking out the space port windows. This place was sterile, cold and bone crushingly lonely. She wondered if she walked through the window, would she finally feel something? Anything?

A presents drew her out of the visions dancing through her head. “Q.” She spoke softly.

“The Federation is truly in a mess for you to be here.”

She spoke inside Q’s mind, ‘I could care less about the Federation. I wish it would implode.’

Q smiled. Answering her in the same fashion. ‘It might.’

“Captain Picard!” A voice shouted over the bustling of New San Fransisco.

A duel yes called back. Jean-Luc and Beverly had answered, turned and was greeting a very official looking person.

Sher walked across the busy space port, unnoticed, as if she was being drawn by something. Q stayed one step behind. Half out of concern. Half out of curiosity. In a dark corner was an android much like Data, in an orange jumpsuit, mopping the floor.

“Data?” Q breathed.

“No.” Sher answered softly. “Dr. Soong tried to populate the planet with androids. This one is named B4.”

“B4 what?”

The guard the was with the android, didn’t look up from his material.

B4 tried to speak when he noticed Sher and Q but his words hung in his throat. He cocked his head to one side, making a gurgling noise. Sher reached out with both hands, holding his face. The android started to shake as if being electrocuted.

All of the old Enterprise crew that was there rushed to him. Jean-Luc, Beverly, Wil, Deanna and Geordi.

No one saw Sher or Q.

“You will fry him.” Q spoke out of concern.

“Let him fry.” She spoke through gritted teeth.

Deanna stood straighter. “What is it?” Wil asked.

“I don’t,” she sighed. “I lost it.”

“Wow!” The guard gasped. “That looks like someone put a piece of tinfoil in a microwave.”

“We need to do something.” Beverly almost screamed.

“What?” Geordi asked.

This shock treatment went on for fifteen minutes. Lightning and sparks flew from B4.

“What if we throw water on it?” The guard asked.

The friends all looked at him mystified at how stupid his suggestion was.

B4 shuttered, shouting, “I – AM B – B – B – 4!” The electrocution. continued. “I – AM – DATA!” Again, “I – AM B – B – B – 4!” The electrocution continued. “I – AM – DATA!” And again,  “I – AM B – B – B – 4!” The  electrocution continued. “I – AM – DATA! I – AM – DATA!” He continued, “I – AM – DATA! I – AM – DATA!”

Sher let go of his face. He fell to his knees still clinging to the mop. “Sher! I AM DATA!” He screamed.

His friends looked around him in bewilderment as Data began to sob. “I am Data.”
