Sarah’s scent was driving Orion insane. Compounded with her breath teasing his ear and the sound of her voice, he was about to die. “Sarah,” he panted. “Sarah.” He leaned forward, his breath against her ear created cold chills down her back. She was trying so hard not to get swept up in this emotion. It was like an undertow pulling her with unspeakable strength.
“I feel it to.” He desperately groaned in her ear. “Oh God.” He felt a spasm from his chest. “Sarah.”
“When you figure out what is happening to you; figure out what is happening to me?”
“No,” He cried. “Don’t leave me.”
“I have too.”
“Do you know what the scariest part about being sick is?”
Another spasm rippled through me. “No, I can’t say I do.”
“When you pass out, you are totally unprotected. You are left to what ever desires the people that find you have. Even if you wake up to find someone doing something you don’t approve of, you have no power to fight.”
“Has that happened to you?”
“Not to an extent where I thought my life was in danger. There have been times that I wanted to run.”
“I had never thought about it that way.”
They were still whispering. So close to each other; yet so far away.
“I felt safe on the train. I know there is nothing I can do about who finds me. Somehow knowing that it would be you, made me feel comfortable.”
“Will you tell me about the time you wanted to run?”
“All I could hear was Floria’s voice. It was like nails on a chalk board. I knew there were other people around me. I could feel Dr. Carter’s cold stethoscope. I had a panic attack while I was still under the influence of passing out. I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest and run around on the room.”
“What was she saying?”
“I have no idea. It was just the sound of her voice. That was the one time that I came close to liking Dr. Carter. He made everyone leave the room.”
This feeling that was taking over was unnerving to her. ‘Why? Why now? Why him’? Yes, his marriage was a shamble. They wanted to get a divorce. But ‘why’? These questions riddled her mind. He held her face in his hands, “Please be here when I get back.”
“I see no reason why I shouldn’t be.”
