“Sarah!” Jack screamed, running toward her.
A manservant heard them and stepped into the hall.
Jack rolled her over onto her back, gentle brushing her hair out of her face. “Sarah.”
The manservant knelt beside of them.
Jack was trembling. “Sarah.”
She didn’t respond.
“Take her to her quarters. The Queen mum’s.” He instructed the servant.
The manservant lowered his head. He picked Sarah up as if she was a feather and packed her to her quarters. Jack soon followed with his doctor’s bag.
“Thank you.”
The manservant bowed and left.
He watched her chest heave. Her stomach quivered. “Sarah.” He whispered in her ear. It took him several minutes to compose himself long enough to draw blood for her. She whimpered as he stuck the needle in her arm. “Forgive me.”
He jerked all of his emotions away as the door was opened. Orion entered the room.
“I know you hate me.” Carter confronted him. “I also know that you trust her, will you allow me to take a blood sample?”
“Why?”
Jack closed his eyes. “She wasn’t sick before she came here.”
“Jack.” She wheezed.
“Yes, I’m right here.” He held her hand.
“Take me home.”
“You’re in no condition to travel.”
“Please.” She hissed slowly.
“I’ll get you out of here.”
She passed out. Orion sat down on the edge of the bed, pushing up his sleeve. Jack didn’t make eye contact with him as he prepared Orion’s arm.
“How long have you had feelings for her?”
Carter didn’t hurt him as the needled slide through his skin to the vain. “You have no competition from me.” He removed the needle, and then placed a cotton ball over the hole. He then lifted Orion’s arm into the air. “Put your finger on the cotton.”
Orion did.
Carter secured this blood samples. He put a bandage over the cotton ball, lowering Orion’s arm.
“Where are you taking her?” Orion asked.
“To safety.”
