April is poetry awareness month. Poetry gets a bad rap. Why? Why do people hate poetry so much? According to Medium.com, here are their top 6 reason why people hate poetry:
It’s old/ dead.
It’s nerdy.
It’s elitist, snobbish, stuck-up, or exclusive.
It’s boring.
It’s hard.
It never really interested

People do hate poetry but as far as i know most people love it , my friends and my sister love poetry . And they write poetry and lately i write a poem.

I watched a few reaction videos to older songs on Youtube recently. I found it odd how the listeners, who seemed to be intelligent and open-minded, were unable to interpret symbolism, metaphors and subtexts in lyrics. I thought then, as a poet, poetry and civilization were doomed.

I can’t speak for everyone. Sometimes, we just want to be entertained. The everyday stresses of life get to us and we would like to forget our Ives, if only for 4 minutes. So we don’t pay attention to the things we don’t want to hear. Music, movies, books, will always be used to influence humanity.
