I’m different. You’re different.
We both need air to breathe.
I’m different. You’re different.
We both need water to drink.
I’m different. You’re different.
We both need food to eat.
I’m different. You’re different.
We both need shelter from the storm.
I’m different. You’re different.
We both need to protect our bodies with coverings.
I’m different. You’re different.
We both need rest.
I’m different. You’re different.
We both need to feel a sense of community, belonging and love.
I’m different. You’re different.
We worship differently.
We eat different foods.
Our homes don’t all look the same.
I’m different. You’re different.
We breathe the same air.
We drink the same water.
Live on the same planet.
Bask in the same sun.
We allow our differences to divide us.
Why can’t our differences unite us?
I’m different. You’re different.

❤️🫶love this.
Nice double bass in that illustration. Michael over at Ravensweald is getting into the bass and it’s got me all bass happy. It’s Scott LaFaro Day in his hometown of Geneva, New York. Scott LaFaro was one of the great jazz bassists of all time. In his honor, I recommend listening to “My Man’s Gone Now” from the famous live album ‘Sunday at the Village Vanguard’ by the Bill Evans Trio. The song is from Porgy and Bess and LaFaro’s playing on it is absolutely sublime. LaFaro died at 25 in a car accident, near Geneva, not long after the recording was made. His Prescott bass was also badly damaged in the accident, although it has been repaired and someone will probably play it today in his honor.

I cherish our differences, and this blighted worldview that is going around is not going to take away any of my joy! Beautiful thought provoking poetry.

I am honored that you thought enough of my work to bestow this upon my blog, but I don’t do awards. Thank you just the same though my friend, sincerely.
