Take this job and shove it!
Toes in the water.
Butt in the sand.
Oh, I’d love to call it quits.
~
I’ve got better things to do,
then worry about your stress.
Cool ocean breeze,
9 to 5, get a clue.
~
Change my latitude!
Yes!
Come get me salty.
Change my attitude.
~
Work, work, work, til I’m black and blue.
Aching head.
Tired body.
No! Don’t let this week be through.
Perfectly captures the longing for escape and the frustration of the daily grind. The contrast between the stressful work imagery and the peaceful beach daydream is so relatable 🤝

Tip for retiring poor: learn to live on the amount of money you will be able to collect on social security- do it well in advance. Hone down your spending until not only can you survive- but do so with a small excess every month- you will never be traveling the globe- but you won’t be worrying about getting your needs met either. And I don’t know why your post elicited this response- but it did! Now- go back to dreaming about tropical vacations! heheheheh

It’s all good. 😊 There are places I’d like to visit but it’s not happening. I completely understand living below your means. If that allows me some stress free years, I’ll take it over travel.

I had a coworker who liked to quote Johnny Paycheck. Manager hated it.

I’m just back from my vacation, trying to complete my first week back at the day job, so this really resonated. Thanks for writing to my vacation prompt!
