Poetry Awareness Month

April is Poetry Awareness Month

I’m going to start adding more poetry to my site. Especially for April. I’ve been saving up. 😉

Get off me!

*

GET OFF ME!

Let me be.

Get off me.

Can’t you see?

Get off me!

Flee! Flee! I must flee!

Panic coursing through my veins.

This is driving me insane.

Get off me!

Let me be.

This will not be my end.

Over the edge, you will not send.

Get off me!

Let me be.

Get off me.

Can’t you see?

Someone else can be your clown.

In this, I will not drown.

Get off me!

Let me be.

GET OFF ME!

      1. My co-workers are going to think I’ve lost my mind. I laughter out loud at that. 😂

Myself, I prefer a form of Couplet poetry. While my lines are rarely the same length, my end words do rhyme. AA – BB. I’ve tried ABAB and free verse. And I always circle back to Couplet.

      2. So many angles with Nantucket…

I’m a free verse kind of guy who likes to play with alliteration and internal rhyming schemes (instead of end of line rhymes). I’ve used different constraints over the years, but ultimately am not a big fan of standardized verse.

      3. Once tried stream of consciousness. The guide lines for the one I tried was you couldn’t go back and edit your work. While I realize my grammar isn’t great; that messed with me.
