The Human Condition

The human condition is one of a curious mind.

The truth is there to straighten the bind.

Trust (like life) is a two way street.

Is it right for one to be on the beef?

While the other one streaks. Thoughts strain the heart,

painful as the longest dart.

Should the mind struggle in vain, as the body is drained?

Questions to life that must be answered.

There will be no lonely dancers.

I cannot afford the stress

of a complicated mess.

Attitudes that fall silent can never be shut out.

Feeling, like words can be painful as a shout.

When the mind is left to ponder,

the heart is sworn to wonder.

Experience is a powerful tool.

That can play the minds of fools.

Choking down the pain,

will never bring a gain.

Life is too short for silly games.

Life is too complicated for foolish blames.

It is very easy to care.

Though hard to dare.

Testing the limitations of society,

while maintaining ones propriety.

Alarms and bells begin to ring.

Whistles begin to sing.

When the puzzle falls apart,

at the tasting of an aficionados sour tart.

The mask has started to tarnish:

one layer at a time peal the varnish.

The mystery I shall master.

The cracks will never replaster.

Nuns and priests are made of solitudes grief.

For lesser crimes do we punish a thief?

Frustration leads to rage.

The most sorrowful a page.

This potion-

has caused quiet a commotion.

Inner turmoil-

bringing forgotten senses to a boil.

Lost feeling of desire and youth

A seed planted with no where to grow, a gardener very uncouth.

I am what I am.

Desire within me will not clam.

The fires have been fanned.

When will the man be a man?

A man I do desire.

Truth (like lust) burns with the heat of fire.

Truth like an itch I cannot scratch.

A relationship I may not be able to patch.

Trust, the heart does unknowingly,

the mind unwilling.

Leave the mind to wonder

answers we will find in the great yonder.

To be stupid is not to be female.

To be stupid can be male.

Underestimate the power she holds,

is to be very bold.

If knowledge is truly power,

then over you I will tower.

Words and actions deceive us all.

A slip here a slid there, when they come to call.

Idle games here are no match.

A liberated woman with an itch to scratch.

Bring you boyish games my way

and you will rue the day.

I am awake now.

I must thank you for showing me how.

If nothing should arise,

I know I already have the prize.

There is more here than meets the eye.

Though sometimes there are tears I need to cry.

If there is a truth to know,

there needs to be a foundation to grow.

The ground under my feet is brittle.

So now here we find a riddle.

Will you rise to meet the war?

Or will you be hitting the door?

This pain I will not endure forever.

All I am getting from you is never.

The road is dusty and long.

The light in the tunnel is gone.

There is no quick fix to this.

Opportunity I do not wish to miss.

The greatest of friends you have been to me.

To deaf ears let me not plea.

Trust in me as I trust in you,

And life will we help each other through.

  1. Holding on to what God is asking you to release can keep you from receiving what’s next. Sometimes the bravest step is letting go with faith. 💫🫶

  2. I read this a couple of hours ago and pushed the like button. But I’ve been out walking on the hills with my dogs and the lyrical nature of some of the lines keep coming back to me. This would make a great song.

Especially the questions/answers/no lonely dancers part but it all has a lovely spacious rhythm when read out loud to some dogs above a the town.

  3. Very eye-opening thoughts and lines that resonate deeply, so much so that this feels like an anthem and not just a typical poem — it’s awesome and I admire your poetic talent 💡✍️🤗💕
