Who is this face in the mirror I see?

Who is this face in the mirror I see?

That pair of eyes staring back at me?

I see a child like wonder there.

One so young, innocent, and naive.

On second glance see,

sadness and pain beyond the years.

A dull pain that will not go away.

A longing.

A burning.

A yearning.

The object is unknown.

With each bat of the lash,

I see a new face inside the eyes.

A different side of the person.

A different reflection of the mind.

The pain.

The love.

The sadness.

The joy, hidden inside.
