My last weight loss journey:

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve shared more information about my progress. Or lack there of?

My scales died and I will not buy a new pair. They are mental bastards that just depress you.

For those of you that have been following me for a while, you know I suffer from G.E.R.D.S. And that I’ve been researching, learning what I should and shouldn’t eat. Limiting my intake of citric acid and caffeine. Citric acid is in a lot of foods. It’s used as a preservative. In my life, my biggest citric acid supplier was my beloved Diet Mt. Dew. Not to mention a hearty portion of caffeine. I cut out Mt. Dew cold turkey but was still drinking pop. Soda for you city folks. 😉 It’s free where I work y’all. But I gave it up. I’ve not drank a pop or anything carbonated since the second week of September. You’re not going to believe me. I need to have a new notch put in my belt.

I don’t see or feel this change. But my belt says so.

You’ve heard the stories, real or leaded pop (as I like to call it) has mountains of sugar in it. But diet pop doesn’t have sugar. Right? But it tastes sweet. I’ve read story after story of this person stopping drinking regular pop and losing weight. But surely that wouldn’t work for diet drinks?

This is what I’ve learned about my body. I don’t miss the pop. I can walk right past that free cooler all day long (well, I do. 😂) without saying, ‘I want one’. Without pulling one out of the cooler and licking the can. Or opening it just to smell it. Or listen to that effervescent sing. My sugar cravings have dropped off considerably. Though, after dinner, I still want a sweet treat.

What do I drink? I have one regular cup of coffee in the morning. Then if I want another cup, it’s decaf. I’m drinking decaf or herbal teas. And a lot more water. Water that I used to say, ‘I HATE WATER’.

What about on the food side of things? During the week, I wait as long as I can to eat. Which is usually 11:30, to eat my first meal. Then I try to not eat anything else until dinner. Notice I said try. When I do have a snack, it’s nuts, a meat stick, cheese and not something loaded with carbs.

My body and I will get there. I’ve got to learn what it’s saying.
