God’s House

Acts 20:28 ESV

28 Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God,[a]which he obtained with his own blood.[b]

God’s House

Daniel found himself back in the principals office. As it were. Once again, with sweaty palms staring at the pastors giant desk. The older man tore in the room past the pastor. His face was red. “You asshole, piece of shit. If you wish to keep your job,” the pastor sat down as this man continued ranting. “You are going to whip your dick out and use it to serve God. I don’t give a damn if you are scared of the IRS. You are going to be terrified of me. You are going to let that,” he sputtered, “creature screw you seven ways to Sunday. Marry it if you have to. She,” he finally choaked, “WILL be a member of MY church. Pay your damn tithes!”

“I don’t think so.” Daniel stammered.

He bristled; as if Daniel was the first person to ever tell him no. “You don’t think so!”

Daniel stood, “no. I don’t think so.” He glanced over at the pastor, who had his head lowered.

“Why do you keep looking at that piece of shit when I’m the one talking?!”

Daniel banged his fists on the giant desk, causing the pastor to jump. When he looked up, Daniel noticed his eyes were full of tears.

Daniel stood straight, looking directly into the pastors eyes. “Someday boy, this could be you.” He turned and left.

Tainted squirrel

(Gloria Jones; Tainted love 1964

Soft Cell release – 1981)

Jolene’s Home Cooked Eats Country food your Granny forgot about

I feel I’ve got to

Run, I’ve got to

Get there now

This pain is driving into the core of me

It was good goin’ down

Seemed to go straight through me

And I’ve lost my ability to sit upright

For I groan and moan, I can’t make it to the bathroom tonight

Once I longed for you (I ran)

Now run from you

This tainted squirrel you’ve given

I give you all; sadly, I will never give you more

Take my aching stomach and that’s not nearly all

Tainted squirrel (oh)

Tainted squirrel

Now I know I’ve got to

Run, I’ve got to

Get there now, you don’t really want any of this from me

Pepto, Mylanta, to make things right

ER might be in sight

I need someone to hold my hair

And I think I need prayer

I’m sorry, I gotta crawl that way

Once I longed for you (I ran)

Now run from you

This tainted squirrel you’ve given

I give you all sadly I will never give you more

Take my spastic colon and that’s not nearly all

Tainted squirrel(oh)

Tainted squirrel

Don’t touch me, please

My stomach just seized

I love you though you hurt me so

Now I’m gonna duck walk to the bathroom before I go

Tainted squirrel(oh)

Tainted squirrel (oh)

Tainted squirrel (oh)

Tainted squirrel(oh)

Never eat from a restaurant again, baby, tainted squirrel

Used to think you were delicious, baby, tainted squirrel

Tainted squirrel (oh)

When does dehydration set in

Tainted squirrel (oh)

You’ve taken my inards for a spin

Tainted squirrel

Tainted squirrel

In my youth

Up or down?

Smile or frown?

Front or back?

Should I eat a snack?

Right or left?

Is this too big to heft?

Under or over?

Faster or slower?

Which way do I go?

Just go with the flow?

No matter; it will be wrong.

Was I this way in my youth?

This or that?

Blue or black.

Soft or hard?

Bought or *bard?

Drink or thirst?

Empty or burst?

Out with the old?

Not really sold

on something new.

Decision remorse makes me blue.

No matter, it will be wrong.

Was I this way in my youth?

This could not be the truth?

Make a decision, right or wrong.

In your knowledge, be strong?

Don’t analyze it seven ways to Sunday.

You did it. The truth will come out on Monday.

Hind sight is 20/20.

Errors in life are ah-plenty.

Right or wrong. It’s always the same song.

No matter, it will be wrong.

Was I this way in my youth?

Gift

The next morning everyone was gathered for another feast. Westerfield leaned over to Picard. “Where’s Data?”

    “I don’t know.”

“I thought you had a handle on your crew?”

“Sometimes my crew are like children, they are strong willed and do what they feel they need to.”

“IF the emperor asks, what am I going to say?”

At that moment Data appeared. He was behind the Princess. “Your highness.”

“Data.” He sat down beside of her.

“I have a gift for you. A book.” He gave it to her. He showed her a small earpiece, “put this in your ear and as you read the book it will translate for you. I think this should do an effective job in answering your questions.”

    “Thank you.”

“You are most welcome your highness.”

“No one has ever given me a book before.” They are generally reserved for scholars.”

“May this be the first in a large volume of books you are given.”

She put the earpiece in her ear and opened the book. Data got up and set next to Worf on the other side of the table.

“So this stuff is common on other planets?” She asked.

    “Yes.”

    “And the population survives?”

    “Thrives on some planets.”

    She continued to read.

“Well,” the emperor spoke. “Since my daughter is not afraid to ask questions. That is obvious. I have a question of my own. Have you in your journey here,” he paused quite nervously, “came across other creatures such as us?”

    Picard boldly answered, “Yes.”

Sera closed her book. “Yes.” The emperor repeated.

“5 creatures such as yourself.” Picard answered.

    “Where?”

“We found a ship drifting in space and found them on board.”

“And?” The emperor asked with excitement.

“I am sorry to report that when we found them, they were dead.”

    “Dead!” HE slammed the table.

“Your majesty, after an extensive investigation we came to the conclusion they stole the ship they were in.” Data spoke. “Is that correct?”

“Yes. You know how children are.” He smiled at Picard, brushing off what they did. “Stealing a ship is no reason to kill them.”

“We have been unable to determine if they fired on a Sheno cruiser destroying it or if they were dead before the encounter.”

“The Sheno.” He scoffed. ‘Well you know the Sheno started it.” He paused, “did you say destroying it?” His interest increased.

    “I did.”

The Emperor gave out a sheik of delight in acknowledgement of this great event.

“Father, your son is dead as is my fiancée. You brush it off as boys will be boys? Children playing with toys?”

“They destroyed a Sheno cruiser. That is worth their deaths. They died an honorable death. That is reason to celebrate.”

“Where are the bodies?” Sera asked.

“We met the Sheno before we met you. They requested a body from the group. Not knowing that we would meet you during our trip, we allowed the Sheno to take one of the bodies.”

The Emperor thought for a moment. “I do understand your position. May we have the remaining bodies?”

    “Yes, of course.” Picard agreed.

“We will take great honor in burying our dead.” The Emperor was in deep thought for a moment. “We promised you a tour of our planet. Come,” as they walked Sera continued to read her book. “We will visit all the highlights on the planet. We are leaving Vespa our capital city.” They got into a shuttle car at the rear of the palace. “All of our infrastructure is underground. We are going to Piko, it is the largest docking port within 24 planets.” The Emperor reported with pride. They didn’t get out of the car. Their shuttle circled the port. “We offer free movement to and from our planet. We like to think we are the friendliest planet around.” He grinned widely. “This is Papas, we house all of our learning material and our school is here. It is a community unto itself. All the children on the planet go to school here; the boys are trained in the sciences while the girls are schooled the arts and how to be proper ladies; great mothers to our children.” They returned to the palace. “What do you think?”

    “Impressive,” Westerfield exclaimed.

“I bet our friends would be interested in the sciences. After all, they are travelers. They have seen many planets.” Sera suggested.

“Sure, why not.” The Emperor agreed. “Even the lady?”

“This lady is very interested.” Deanna smiled.

God’s House

Ecclesiastes 5:1 ESV

Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. To draw near to listen is better than to offer the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they are doing evil.

God’s House

Daniel wiped his hands down his thighs before getting out of the car. With a wide smile, full of teeth, the pastor had invited Daniel to his house for a Bible study. The sight of this house made him nervous. It was massive. Where The Brewer Mansion was historic old money; this was in your face new money. This had to be the house from the report.

Daniel’s finger shook as he pushed the doorbell. A girl, who in his mind, didn’t look over 18 opened the door. She was chewing gum as hard and fast as she could.

“Come in,” she giggled. Bouncing off into the group of people.

This group was church youth. That’s why the girl looked so young. They had an hour long Bible study about the sin of sex out of wedlock. Ate dinner and prayed before the pastor excused them.

As they cleaned up from this Bible study, more people arrived. The other half of the deacons. And random people Daniel had no idea who they were. No one ever introduced themselves. The last person to arrive was the cop. In street clothes. He brought drugs! Daniel tried his best to get away. Each time he ran for the door, a woman 50 times more powerful than he, pulled him back.

After his 5th attempt, she all but picked him up and carried him to a pool house.

“Look,” he stammered. “I’m not sure what’s going on here. But,” She proceeded to undress. “You are beautiful.” His intent was to reassure her, she was indeed beautiful. He tried to hide behind a nightstand, wanting no part of this. “This isn’t me.” When she dropped her pants and had male parts. It didn’t matter how strong she was, Daniel bolted for the door.

He drove to the quietest place he knew. Parked his car and sat on a walking bridge and cried.

Moon light shimmering off the water turned to sunlight.

He jumped as someone sat down beside him, “well if it isn’t the Christian bigot.” She snapped.

“I’m sorry.” Daniel proclaimed. “Everything about last night caught me off guard. Bible study, I was expecting. The drugs. You, came out of left field.”

She gasped, “are you a virgin?”

“Yes, I am. And plan on staying that way.”

“You really are delusional aren’t you honey?”

“Maybe.” He sighed, extending his hand for a shake. “I’m Daniel.”

She laughed, “I think I owe you an apology. Joel promised me a new life. A new life in his church. Where I could establish myself as the woman I want people to see me as. And what better than to be a preachers wife.” She winked at him. “You were planned. Sadly, not properly groomed.” She let out a long sigh before taking his outstretched hand, “you may call me Sue.”

Daniel was dumbfounded. He just stared at her in disbelief. “Are you kidding me?” He blurted out. Ignoring her name.

“No.”

“You are beautiful. But God hasn’t laid it on my heart that marriage is for me right now.”

“It has nothing to do with me changing?”

“That’s between you and God.”

“That’s a cop out if I ever heard one.”

“I don’t know what to think.” Daniel said honestly. “I’m still reeling from the fact that I was being prostituted out and that you went along with it.”

She laughed. “Honey, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do.” As they both stood, he noticed the brand new sports car beside his. She smiled, “I’m richer than 10 foot up a bulls ass. And plan on staying that way.”

Then it hit Daniel. It was all about the money.

Fall y’all

The heat and humidity of summer sucks the life from my very soul.

Like a tick on a dog, draining my life force is its goal.

Day in and day out.

It’s enough to make this girl pout.

Heat.

Humidity.

Humidity.

Heat.

Everyday is on repeat.

But fall.

Oh, but FALL.

Lower humidity. Cool, crisp air.

What a pair!

Leaves change color.

Pumpkin spice,

it’s so nice.

I think I might like fall

best of all.

No names

Data was attempting to rest in a restless situation. He heard rustling. As he reached out into the darkness, he grabbed a hand, heard a very feminine voice gasp. “Lights.” She said. The light in the room came on.

“Your highness.” Data rose up out of the bed, letting go of her hand.

“I am sorry to bother you.”

“What can I do for you?”

“You are different from the others.”

    “Yes, I am.”

“I have never met anyone whose skin is gold.”

“I have never been to a planet made of gold.”

She blushed, ‘we are quite the wonder.” She sat on the edge of the bed. “Have you ever felt that you needed to talk to someone? No one in particular, you just need to talk?”

    “Sometimes.”

“And since you are an off worlder, you might be able to help me.”

    “I will try your highness.”

    “Data right?”

    “Yes.”

    “Walk with me Data.”

    “What about the guard outside?”

“We will not go that way.” She walked over to the fireplace. Inside the grate was a stairwell leading down and eventually out of the palace. Once they were outside, she began to talk. “I have been having horrible nightmares. Things are happening in my nightmares to my planet that I don’t have a name for. Things that have never happened in the recorded history of our planet.”

    “Such as?”

“Great walls of water flood the land. The land opens up making enormous cracks in the ground. Rivers of red water flow from mountaintops. The ground shakes so hard that it turns watery. Sinking whatever structure is on it. All of these events happen without warning. Large numbers of my people are killed.”

“And you say none of these events have ever happened to your planet?”

“Never.” They had walked to the edge of a lake. She looked up at the night sky. “I worry about my brother and my fiancée. They went on a pleasure cruise two months ago and have never returned. I fear we have allowed a horrible event to take place.”

“What is the role of women on this planet? I have only seen three women.”

“Very little. The mothers of our children.”

“Will you be allowed to rule?”

“Only if I marry and produce a male heir, then can I carry the title of empress.”

“I noticed in my quarters there were books written in English. Can you read English?”

    “Not well.”

“I will try to help you.” As she walked away, Data returned to the Enterprise.

God’s House

1 Chronicles 17:1-2: “Now when David lived in his house, David said to Nathan the prophet, ‘Behold, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under a tent'”.

God’s House

Daniel sat with his knees shaking on the visitors side of the pastors giant desk. Was this about the computer reports? Why else would the pastor want to speak with him? The pastor and the man that had originally let Daniel in on the day of his interview, walked in.

The pastor sat down and looked directly at his desk. The other man stood and did all the talking. He flipped a laptop around as security footage was played. It was of Sunday’s service. The meet and greet part or sharing the love of Christ. Daniel was shaking hands with a man he had invited to church. Daniel didn’t even know his name. They met at the grocery and just started talking.

“Do you know this man?” Daniel noticed the pastor was still looking at his desk. “What are you looking at him for? I’m the one talking.”

Daniel looked directly at the older man. “Not personally sir. We met at the store. Just got to talking and religion came up. I invited him to church.”

“This man,” he pointed aggressively at the laptop. “Is a drug user. He’s been in and out of jail. Rehab. Who knows what diseases he might have from his needle use. We DO NOT want this garbage in our church. This filth mixing with our good clean stock.” He leaned over the desk, almost in Daniel’s face. “Don’t you dare invite garbage to MY church. You,” he all but spat on Daniel, “need to run people through me.” He pointed at himself, “before you invite anyone to MY church.”

Daniel sat in his car and cried.

My last weight loss journey, weight loss as a side effect

If you have been following along with me, you know I’ve been all over the map and back when it comes to weight loss. Before I started this blog, I’ve tried most of the diets from The Cabbage Soup Diet to The Atkins Diet. Losing more weight than some people weigh, only to gain it right back. And more. Known as yo-yo dieting. Which is worse on your body than being fat. Or so, I’ve read.

Recently at work, I was asked if I’ve lost some weight? 🎉 Talk about making me feel good. While weight loss is fantastic; and I’ll take it, I’m learning how to eat. My diet was high in carbohydrates. I used to tell my dad, “man can’t live off honeybuns alone.” In the later stage of his life, all he wanted was sweets. As we age, our sweet taste buds are all that’s left. So, I’ve read. A similar statement is true of my body, I can’t live off carbohydrates alone. I love them. But they need to be the secondary source of food for me.

I mentioned in an earlier post that I’ve been binge watching Autumn Bates on YouTube and I’ve been adding more protein to my diet. Learning things such as carbohydrates sensitivity and the glycemic load of foods. Diabetes runs in my family. Foods high on that scale are bad for me. Learning that I need to avoid all the good/bad things; you know, the things that make our state buds dance. Doritos being on top of my list. Hmmm, so good. Have I completely given these things up? No, but I don’t eat near what I used to.

Finding the time to exercise is challenging.

I will share recipes I’ve been making in up coming posts. Starting with a random recipe I found on-line for pumpkin cheesecake. I have really been on a pumpkin kick lately.

The recipe I got on-line was for one serving. Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake. It’s not too different from Autumn’s pancakes. Will share later.

1 egg

1 cup cottage cheese

1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

3 tablespoons pumpkin puree

(She had 2 tablespoons of allulose. Didn’t use.)

I added a splash of vanilla

And 1 scoop vanilla protein powder

Chocolate chips added to the top once in the dish.

Dump every thing in a blender, blend until smooth, bake at 350 for 15 minutes. It took mine 25 minutes.

Topped with Oikos® Triple Zero Vanilla
Nonfat Greek Yogurt, 15 grams of protein and a dusting of cocoa power.
